The Winter Palace is located on the south side of the Royal Palace, adjacent to the tennis court. It was used by King Sisavang Vatthana, the queen, and their family to gather around the fireplace during the cold season. Additionally, the royal family, including their children and grandchildren, would join King Sisavang Vatthana and the queen in spending time together by the fire. This space was important for fostering family bonds, where the royal family would have conversations and impart wisdom to the younger generation. The Winter Palace was built in 1973.
