02. Prabang Hall & History of Prabang

Hor Prabang was constructed in 1969 during the reign of King Sisavang Vatthana. The design was created by a skilled artisan from Luang Prabang, Mr. Manivong Khattiya, and the structure features the unique style of traditional Lao Luang Prabang art. Initially, only the foundation and several pillars were completed, but after the royal palace was converted into the National Museum of Luang Prabang on April 13, 1976, the building process resumed gradually. In 1993, the provincial government handed the project over to the Department of Information, Culture, and Tourism of Luang Prabang Province, and construction continued until its full completion on August 28, 2011. On December 14, 2013, the sacred Phra Bang Buddha image was enshrined in this hall, where it remains to this day.
